Position Title: Steel Fabricator – Site Engineer

Location: Riyadh, KSA

Department: Steel Fabrication / Projects

Reports To: Project Manager / Site Manager

Overview

The Steel Fabricator – Site Engineer is responsible for supervising fabrication and installation activities at the project site. The role ensures that all structural steel works are executed according to approved shop drawings, project specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Site Supervision

• Monitor daily steel fabrication and erection activities at the site.

• Ensure work is carried out according to approved shop drawings, IFC drawings, and method statements.

• Coordinate with the fabrication workshop for material readiness and timely delivery.

2. Technical Responsibilities

• Verify dimensions, levels, weld details, and alignment of steel structures.

• Interpret drawings and communicate technical clarifications to site teams.

• Identify discrepancies and raise RFIs (Request for Information) when required.

3. Quality Control

• Inspect fabrication, welding, bolting, and installations to ensure compliance with project quality standards.

• Maintain quality records and ensure the site team follows the approved ITP (Inspection & Test Plan).

• Coordinate with consultants and clients for inspections and approvals.

4. Material & Resource Management

• Monitor material usage and report shortages or discrepancies.

• Ensure correct handling, storage, and tagging of fabricated steel components.

• Coordinate with procurement and logistics for material delivery schedules.

5. Safety Compliance

• Ensure all site activities follow company HSE policies.

• Conduct toolbox talks with site supervisors and workers.

• Report and mitigate any site hazards or unsafe practices.

6. Coordination & Reporting

• Communicate daily progress with project management.

• Prepare daily/weekly progress reports.

• Coordinate with subcontractors, consultants, and main contractors.

Qualifications & Skills

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Mechanical Engineering or related field.

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in steel fabrication and erection projects.

• Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes, welding standards, and erection sequences.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

• Good communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

• Familiarity with AutoCAD / Tekla is a plus.
