Barista Job Description

A Barista is responsible for preparing and serving a variety of coffee beverages and other drinks while delivering excellent customer service. This role involves operating coffee equipment, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, and ensuring customers have a positive and efficient experience.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and serve espresso-based drinks (lattes, cappuccinos, americanos, etc.) and other beverages according to store recipes and standards.

Greet customers, take orders, and process payments accurately.

Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic work area, including coffee machines, counters, and seating areas.

Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.

Restock supplies such as coffee beans, syrups, pastries, cups, and other inventory.

Operate espresso machines, grinders, and POS systems efficiently.

Provide product knowledge and make recommendations based on customer preferences.

Handle customer questions, concerns, and requests in a friendly and professional manner.

Support team members during busy periods to ensure smooth operations.

Skills and Qualifications

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Basic math skills for handling cash and measurements.

Strong attention to detail and consistency.

Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.

Prior barista or food service experience (preferred but not always required).

Familiarity with coffee brewing techniques and espresso equipment (a plus).

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for long periods.

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (e.g., boxes of supplies, milk containers).
