CIL Plant Mechanic in Riyadh

Reports To: Plant Mechanical Lead

Job Purpose Perform mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of equipment and systems within the Carbon‑in‑Leach (CIL) gold processing plant. Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of pumps, rotating equipment, tanks, agitators, and associated mechanical systems to support continuous production and minimize downtime.

Major Responsibilities

· Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive mechanical maintenance on CIL plant equipment including pumps, agitators, conveyors, compressors, screens, and tanks.

· Diagnose mechanical problems such as misalignment, excessive vibration, wear, leaks, seized components, and failures.

· Dismantle, repair, replace, and reassemble mechanical components such as bearings, seals, couplings, shafts, and valves.

· Inspect rotating equipment and ensure proper alignment, lubrication, and safe operation.

· Conduct routine lubrication tasks, equipment adjustments, and mechanical inspections according to maintenance standards.

· Assist with installation, commissioning, and alignment of new equipment or mechanical upgrades.

· Maintain accurate mechanical logs, work orders, checklists, and equipment history records.

· Support emergency breakdown response and carry out urgent troubleshooting to restore operation safely and quickly.

· Ensure all mechanical work follows HSE procedures including lock‑out/tag‑out (LOTO), confined space protocols, and safe work permits.

· Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, and processing teams to resolve multidisciplinary plant issues.

Essential Skills

· Diploma in Mechanical Maintenance, Industrial Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a similar technical field.

· Training in rotating equipment maintenance or plant mechanical systems is an advantage.

· Experience in mechanical maintenance within CIL/CIP processing plants, mineral processing, refineries, or heavy industrial environments.

· Hands‑on exposure to pumps, agitators, gearboxes, conveyors, compressors, and rotating machinery used in process plants.

Required Experience

· 5–10 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a mineral processing plant.

· At least 3 years specifically in a CIL/CIP gold plant or similar hydrometallurgical operation.

Core Competencies

· Ability to identify root causes of equipment failures and propose effective solutions.

· Skilled in maintaining rotating and static equipment to maximize uptime.

Knowledge of how mechanical performance affects gold recovery, carbon activity, and leach kinetics.

· Competence in alignment, balancing, torqueing, and fitting.

· Ability to perform basic welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks when required.

· Skilled with hand tools, power tools, vibration meters, laser alignment tools, and other diagnostic equipment.

· Ability to work under pressure during planned and unplanned shutdowns.

· Recognizes mechanical, chemical, and process hazards in a CIL environment.

· Understands cyanide handling protocols, detox systems, and emergency response.

· Strict adherence to isolation, lock-out/tag-out, confined space, and hot-work procedures.

· Awareness of waste handling, spill prevention, and contamination control.
