Electrical Engineer – BWRO Desalination Plant in Al Izdihar

JOB PURPOSE

Perform and oversee all electrical engineering activities required for the design, installation, testing, commissioning, and energization of electrical systems for the Basita BWRO Plant. Ensure full compliance with project specifications, SWA standards, safety codes, and best engineering practices. Support construction, testing, and commissioning teams to deliver a fully automated and reliable RO desalination facility.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Execute all electrical engineering works related to MCCs, switchgear, transformers, diesel generators, VFDs, motors, and plant power distribution per project specifications.

• Review and validate electrical IFC drawings, single-line diagrams (SLDs), load schedules, cable routing layouts, and panel schematics.

• Ensure compliance with SWA standards for power distribution, automation, grounding, earthing, and lightning protection systems

• Supervise installation of all electrical systems including LV panels, MDBs, MCC rooms, lighting systems (normal, exit, emergency), UPS, and field control panels.

• Coordinate instrument and control interfaces between PLC, transmitters, analyzers, sensors, and field equipment as required by the fully automated BWRO plant design.

• Verify electrical requirements for major mechanical systems including:

– High-pressure pumps

– Feed pumps

– Booster pumps

– Chemical dosing equipment

– CIP/Flushing systems

• Supervise cable pulling, glanding, termination, and testing (megger test, continuity, insulation resistance).

• Ensure proper grounding for both electrical and instrumentation systems as per SWA rules (separate earthing systems required)

• Prepare and review technical submittals, load calculations, voltage drop analyses, and method statements.

• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and energization activities for electrical packages.

• Monitor subcontractor work, ensure compliance with QA/QC standards, and resolve technical issues on-site.

• Participate in project meetings, provide weekly/monthly progress reports, and support planning teams with electrical schedules.

• Ensure installation of all plant electrical safety devices (fire alarms, detectors, emergency systems) in compliance with project scope .

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

10–15 years of experience in desalination or industrial water treatment projects.

Proven experience in RO plant design (BWRO or SWRO) including:

RO process design.

Pretreatment & post-treatment.

Pumping systems & hydraulic calculations.

Brine management systems.

Strong knowledge of design software, such as:

AutoCAD & Revit

Water treatment/RO design software

MS Office, MS Project (Primavera is a plus)

Previous experience leading Technical Office teams in EPC / Design–Build projects.

Experience with Saudi Water Authority, SWCC, or industrial megaprojects is an advantage.

PMP or quality certifications preferred.
