**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Position:** Furniture Carpenter

**Job Summary:**

The Furniture Carpenter is responsible for manufacturing, assembling, and installing high-quality custom furniture and woodwork according to approved shop drawings, specifications, and company quality standards. The role requires strong technical carpentry skills, accurate measurements, good knowledge of wood materials, and the ability to complete furniture pieces from raw material to final assembly.

**Roles and Responsibilities:**

1. Read and interpret shop drawings, technical drawings, sketches, and specifications to fully understand the required furniture piece or work item.

2. Take accurate site and workshop measurements and calculate the required sizes, quantities, and materials needed for production.

3. Cut, shape, edge, drill, assemble, and smooth natural wood and wood-based materials, including beech, oak, meranti, teak, MDF, plywood, veneer, laminate, and other furniture-related materials according to approved measurements and drawings.

4. Manufacture furniture pieces from start to finish using raw materials and/or pre-constructed components.

5. Assemble and install furniture, cabinets, shelves, doors, wall panels, counters, and other custom woodwork items at the designated locations.

6. Carry out proper joinery, fixing, fitting, and alignment works to ensure strong, accurate, and clean assembly.

7. Ensure proper handling, storage, and usage of different types of natural wood and wood-based materials used in furniture manufacturing.

8. Prepare wood surfaces properly before finishing, painting, polishing, staining, or laminating.

9. Coordinate with the production team, painters, upholsterers, foreman, and installation team when required.

10. Check the quality of completed works and ensure they match the approved drawings, dimensions, and company standards.

11. Report material shortages, technical issues, or drawing discrepancies to the supervisor or foreman.

12. Follow safety procedures at all times and maintain tools, machines, and the working area in a clean and organized condition.

**Qualifications and Requirements:**

1. Proven experience as a furniture carpenter, cabinet maker, or similar role.

2. Strong hands-on experience in custom furniture manufacturing and woodwork production.

3. Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques, joinery methods, assembly, fitting, and installation works.

4. Good knowledge of natural wood types such as beech, oak, meranti, teak, and other hardwoods, as well as MDF, plywood, veneer, laminate, and other furniture-related materials.

5. Proficient in using electrical and manual carpentry tools, including panel saws, circular saws, drills, routers, sanders, clamps, hammers, rulers, measuring tapes, and other workshop equipment.

6. Ability to read and understand shop drawings, dimensions, and technical details accurately.

7. Good knowledge of furniture production stages, surface preparation, wood finishing, staining, painting, and polishing requirements.

8. Good understanding of basic mathematics and material calculations.

9. Good knowledge of English is preferred.

10. Ability to follow safety guidelines and work instructions at all times.

11. Good physical condition, endurance, and ability to work in a workshop and site installation environment.

12. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

13. Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship or vocational training program is an advantage.
