Mechanical Process / Operations Engineer in Dammam

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Process/Operations Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in mechanical systems, hands-on experience in equipment maintenance, and a proven ability to optimize operational processes. This role focuses on improving mechanical performance, enhancing efficiency, supporting maintenance activities, and ensuring reliable and safe operations.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Operations & Process Improvement

• Analyze and improve mechanical processes within the facility to enhance efficiency and reliability.

• Conduct technical feasibility studies, design calculations, and material/energy balance assessments.

• Evaluate equipment performance, identify operational gaps, and develop corrective action plans.

• Prepare and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent operational excellence.

• Support commissioning and start-up of new mechanical systems and equipment.

Mechanical Maintenance & Equipment Expertise

• Perform and supervise maintenance activities on mechanical equipment, including:

o Valves (Gate, Globe, Check, Control Valves)

o Heat exchangers (cleaning, reassembly, pressure testing)

o Pumps (centrifugal, positive displacement)

o Compressors, fans, and rotating equipment

o Piping systems and metallic structures (including reading P&ID and isometric drawings)

• Troubleshoot mechanical issues using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) tools.

• Conduct mechanical inspections and ensure all equipment meets operational standards.

• Support hydrostatic testing, leak testing, and mechanical integrity checks.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

• Ensure full compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards (ISO, OSHA, etc.).

• Promote safe working practices and maintain a hazard-free working environment.

• Prepare detailed technical reports, performance summaries, and improvement recommendations.

Planning & Scheduling Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed operational and maintenance plans for all mechanical systems.

• Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance schedules to ensure optimal equipment uptime.

• Coordinate with operations, production, and maintenance teams to align schedules and priorities.

• Monitor schedule execution and ensure tasks are completed on time and within budget.

• Analyze delays, deviations, and progress reports, implementing corrective actions when needed.

• Use KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, equipment availability) to optimize maintenance planning and asset performance.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent discipline.

• 5 to 10 years of experience in mechanical operations, process engineering, or industrial maintenance.

• Strong hands-on experience with valves, pumps, heat exchangers, piping systems, and rotating equipment.

• Proficiency in engineering design and analysis software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS.

• Good knowledge of quality, safety, and environmental management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OSHA).

• Excellent skills in data analysis, problem solving, and technical reporting.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

• Experience in planning and scheduling using:

o Primavera P6

o Microsoft Project

o Advanced Excel

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic industrial environment.

• Preferred certifications (if available): PMP, OSHA, NEBOSH, ASME, API.
