Job Title: QC Inspector – Steel Structures / Steel Erection

Qualification:

Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience:

Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in steel structures, steel fabrication, and steel erection projects

Job Description:

The QC Inspector will be responsible for ensuring that all steel fabrication and erection activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, project requirements, and applicable codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspect steel fabrication, welding, and erection activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications

Review and verify material certificates, mill test certificates (MTC), and inspection reports

Conduct inspections for cutting, fit-up, welding, bolting, and erection works

Ensure welding activities comply with approved WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications

Perform visual inspections and coordinate NDT activities (UT, RT, MT, PT)

Verify dimensional accuracy, alignment, and level of erected steel structures

Monitor surface preparation and painting/coating works as per specifications

Identify non-conformances and issue NCRs, follow up on corrective actions

Maintain inspection records, checklists, and quality documentation

Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, and project management team

Participate in client and consultant inspections

Ensure compliance with applicable international standards (AISC, ASTM, AWS, ISO, BS)

Required Skills & Competencies:

Strong knowledge of steel fabrication and erection processes

Good understanding of welding inspection and NDT requirements

Familiar with international codes and quality standards

Ability to read and interpret structural drawings

Strong attention to detail and reporting skills

Good communication and coordination abilities

Proficient in inspection reports and documentation
