Civil Engineer – Liner ( Pond ) in Abqaiq

Job Summary:

The Liner Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, drawing preparation, material selection, installation, and commissioning of pond lining systems. This role involves applying civil engineering principles to ensure that ponds and containment structures are designed and constructed using appropriate liner materials and methods. The Liner Engineer will work closely with design, construction, and quality control teams to ensure compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Contribute to the design and development of lined ponds, reservoirs, and containment structures.

Prepare and review liner system drawings, including layout, bonding details, and installation sequences.

Assist in the selection of lining materials such as HDPE, LDPE, PVC, GCL, bituminous geomembranes, and other geosynthetic materials.

Support the preparation of technical specifications, bill of quantities (BOQ), and material submittals.

Oversee or support installation and commissioning activities, ensuring workmanship meets design and quality standards.

Coordinate with site teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure proper material handling, welding, testing, and documentation.

Participate in inspection and testing of liner systems (e.g., spark testing, vacuum box testing, or destructive seam testing).

Ensure all works comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations and project QA/QC requirements.

Provide technical input and troubleshooting during construction and commissioning phases.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field (required).

2–6 years of relevant experience in pond or containment liner design, construction, or quality assurance.

Experience with different lining materials (HDPE, LDPE, PVC, GCL, etc.) and their applications.

Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other design and drafting tools.

Knowledge of geosynthetic installation techniques, testing procedures, and relevant ASTM/ISO standards.

Strong understanding of earthworks, drainage, and hydraulic design principles.
