Position Title: Ducting Technician (HVAC)

Job Summary

The Ducting Technician is responsible for the installation, assembly, modification, repair, and maintenance of HVAC ductwork systems. The technician ensures that all ducting works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation Works

2. Install HVAC ductwork, fittings, dampers, grilles, diffusers, access doors, and related accessories.

Assemble and connect duct sections according to approved shop drawings and specifications.

3. Install duct supports, hangers, brackets, and suspension systems.

4. Perform duct insulation and sealing works as required.

5. Fabrication and Modification

6. Measure, mark, cut, and shape duct materials as required.

7. Fabricate duct components and fittings when necessary.

8. Modify existing ductwork to suit site conditions and project requirements.

9. Ensure proper alignment and secure fixing of all ducting components.

10. Maintenance and Repair

11. Inspect duct systems for defects, damage, air leakage, and performance issues.

12. Carry out repair and replacement of damaged duct sections and accessories.

13. Assist in testing, balancing, and commissioning activities.

Quality Assurance:

1. Ensure installations comply with approved drawings, project specifications, and applicable HVAC standards.

2. Conduct self-inspections before requesting formal inspections.

3. Maintain good workmanship and quality standards throughout all activities.

4. Report defects, material shortages, and technical issues to the supervisor.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):

1. Follow all company safety policies and site regulations.

2. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

3. Maintain a clean and organized work area.

4. Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses immediately.

Documentation and Coordination:

1. Read and interpret HVAC drawings and installation details.

2. Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to avoid work conflicts.

3. Record completed works and report daily progress to the supervisor.

Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma, Technical Certificate, or Trade Certification in HVAC or Mechanical Works.

2. Minimum 2–5 years of experience in HVAC ducting installation and maintenance.

3. Experience in commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

1. Ability to read and understand HVAC drawings and duct layouts.

2. Knowledge of duct fabrication, installation, and insulation methods.

3. Familiarity with HVAC tools, equipment, and installation practices.

4. Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when required.

5. Good communication and teamwork skills.

6. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to lift and carry ducting materials and tools.

2. Ability to stand, climb ladders, and work in various site conditions.

3. Physically fit to perform manual installation activities.

Authority and Responsibility:

1. Responsible for completing assigned ducting works safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.

2. Responsible for reporting any safety hazards, quality concerns, or technical issues to the Ducting Supervisor immediately.
