Job responsibilities :

Main Job Responsibilities of a Fire Watcher

Monitor hot work activities (welding, cutting, grinding, etc.) to detect fire hazards.

Inspect the work area before work begins to ensure combustible materials are removed or protected.

Keep fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment readily available and know how to use them.

Watch continuously for sparks, smoke, or signs of fire during the operation.

Remain at the work site during hot work and for a specified period after completion (usually 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on company procedures).

Stop work immediately if unsafe conditions or fire hazards are observed.

Raise the alarm and notify emergency personnel in case of fire or emergency.

Ensure hot work permits are valid and comply with safety procedures.

Maintain communication with workers and supervisors regarding safety concerns.

Record and report any incidents, hazards, or abnormal conditions.

Ensure access routes and emergency exits remain clear.

Follow company HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies and procedures.

Skills and Requirements

Knowledge of fire prevention and firefighting methods.

Ability to use fire extinguishers and emergency equipment.

Basic understanding of hot work permits and safety regulations.

Good observation and communication skills.

Physical fitness and alertness.
