Job Purpose

The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician is responsible for carrying out preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of electrical and instrumentation equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted operation of plant facilities. The technician shall troubleshoot equipment failures, perform repairs, conduct functional testing, and support commissioning activities in accordance with company procedures, client requirements, and Saudi Aramco standards where applicable.

Key Responsibilities

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on:

• Motor Control Centers (MCC) – 480V

• Low Voltage Switchgear (LVSG) – 480V

• Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) – 480V

• Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) – 480V

• Bus Duct / Busway Systems – 480V

• Distribution Boards (DB)

• Power Distribution Panels

• Motors

• UPS Systems

• Battery Chargers

• Lighting Systems

• Earthing & Grounding Systems

• Transformers (LV)

• Electrical Control Panels

Instrumentation Maintenance

Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and maintain:

• Pressure Transmitters

• Temperature Transmitters

• Flow Meters

• Level Instruments

• Control Valves

• Solenoid Valves

• PLC I/O Field Devices

• DCS Field Devices

• ESD Systems

• Junction Boxes

• Marshalling Cabinets

• Instrument Air Systems

• Instrument Tubing

• Field Instruments

Troubleshooting & Repairs

• Diagnose electrical and instrumentation faults.

• Perform corrective maintenance and restore equipment to normal operation.

• Troubleshoot MCCs, LVSGs, ATSs, VFDs, Bus Ducts, motors, and associated control circuits.

• Replace defective electrical and instrumentation components.

• Carry out emergency breakdown maintenance with minimum downtime.

• Support root cause analysis (RCA) and recommend corrective actions.

Testing & Inspection

Perform:

• Insulation Resistance (Megger) Testing

• Continuity Testing

• Functional Testing

• Loop Checking

• Calibration Verification

• Motor Rotation Checks

• Voltage and Current Measurements

• Equipment Health Checks

• Preventive Maintenance Inspections

Maintenance Planning

• Execute planned preventive maintenance (PM) activities.

• Complete work orders using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), if applicable.

• Record maintenance activities accurately.

• Report equipment defects and recommend repairs or replacement.

• Assist in planning shutdown and turnaround maintenance.

Health, Safety & Environment

• Follow all HSE rules, procedures, and permit-to-work requirements.

• Comply with Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures.

• Use appropriate PPE at all times.

• Maintain good housekeeping.

• Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings.

• Report unsafe conditions immediately.

Documentation

• Complete maintenance reports and work orders.

• Record equipment history and maintenance activities.

• Update inspection and testing records.

• Report spare parts requirements.

• Assist in maintaining maintenance documentation.

Qualifications

• Diploma or ITI/Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical discipline.

Experience

• Minimum 5–8 years of Electrical & Instrumentation maintenance experience in industrial, oil & gas, petrochemical, utilities, or process plants.

• Experience in preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance.

• Saudi Aramco maintenance project experience is highly preferred.

• Experience working in live operating plants will be an advantage.

Mandatory Technical Experience (Must Have)

The candidate must have hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting experience on:

• Motor Control Centers (MCC) – 480V

• Low Voltage Switchgear (LVSG) – 480V

• Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) – 480V

• Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) – 480V

• Bus Duct / Busway Systems – 480V

The candidate must also have experience in:

• Preventive Maintenance (PM)

• Corrective Maintenance (CM)

• Breakdown Maintenance

• Electrical fault finding and troubleshooting

• Motor control circuits

• Power and control cable termination

• Functional testing

• Loop checking

• Megger and continuity testing

• Instrument calibration support

• Reading electrical schematics, Single Line Diagrams (SLD), wiring diagrams, and P&IDs
