Are you a certified safety professional with an uncompromising focus on rail network integrity? We are seeking an exceptional and highly vigilant Protection Officer to lead safety compliance during critical track maintenance operations.

This is a key operational role where your expertise directly ensures the safety of every worker and the smooth continuity of the rail network. You will be the definitive authority on site, providing essential protection for our engineering and maintenance teams.

The Role: Protection Officer

You will be responsible for the flawless execution of all track protection protocols. Your primary focus will be to establish and strictly manage a safe working environment for all personnel operating on or near the running lines.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

Rule Book Mastery: Act as the onsite expert for the Network Rule Book, interpreting and applying all relevant sections accurately.

Protection Implementation: Design, set up, and manage all forms of track protection, including establishing Lookout Working, Warning Systems, and authorized Track Occupations.

Safety Authority: Issue and withdraw authorizations for work, conduct comprehensive safety briefings (PRIs), and implement immediate work stoppages when necessary to mitigate risk.

Zero-Tolerance Enforcement: Maintain a rigorous, zero-tolerance standard for safety violations, ensuring all personnel are aware of and adhere to the boundaries of the safe work zone.

Communication: Maintain clear, concise, and professional communication with all work crews and the rail Control Center to coordinate safe passage and work windows.

Essential Qualifications

Certification: Possession of relevant and current rail safety certification (e.g., COSS, SWL, or equivalent local certification) is non-negotiable.

Experience: Proven, hands-on experience in providing Protection Officer duties for heavy rail track maintenance or construction projects.

Language: Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required for safety documentation, briefings, and essential communication with the Control Center.

Decision-Making: Demonstrated ability to remain calm, assess complex situations rapidly, and execute safety decisions under high-pressure conditions.
