Role Purpose:

Responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and controlling project costs within the building construction sector to ensure budget adherence, cost efficiency, and accurate financial reporting. Supports decision-making through detailed cost analysis, variance reporting, and forecasting.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cost Monitoring & Control

Track and control project costs to ensure alignment with approved budgets.

Analyze cost structures and highlight opportunities for cost optimization.

Implement cost-control measures to enhance financial efficiency and project performance.

2. Budgeting & Forecasting

Assist in preparing annual budgets, project budgets, and cost forecasts.

Perform detailed cost analysis to support business planning.

Coordinate with departments to maintain effective budgetary controls.

3. Variance Analysis & Cost Reporting

Conduct cost variance analysis by comparing actual vs. budgeted expenditures.

Prepare reports on deviations, cost trends, and corrective recommendations.

Provide insights on cost-related risks and financial opportunities.

4. Cost Allocation & Process Improvement

Ensure accurate cost allocation across projects, disciplines, and cost centers.

Work with procurement, supply chain, and site teams to improve cost efficiency.

Develop and apply best practices for cost control and reporting processes.

5. Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure compliance with company policies, contract terms, and audit requirements.

Monitor spending to prevent fraud, misuse of funds, and financial waste.

Support internal/external audits with required cost data and documentation.

6. MIS Reporting & Decision Support

Prepare cost dashboards, profitability analysis, and management summaries.

Support strategic decisions through scenario and trend analysis.

Utilize ERP and data analytics tools to enhance reporting accuracy and transparency.

Skills & Tools

Strong analytical and cost-monitoring skills

Knowledge of construction cost elements

ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Primavera)

Advanced Excel proficiency

Strong communication and reporting capability
