Job Description: Auto Technician (Mechanical)

Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical Repairs & Maintenance:

• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and brake servicing.

• Inspect and repair mechanical components including engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, and cooling systems.

• Perform specialized mechanical repair and maintenance work on trailers and light vehicles, including axle servicing, hub and bearing repairs, braking system adjustments, electrical/mechanical coupling checks, and chassis maintenance.

• Conduct mechanical troubleshooting to identify the root cause of vehicle issues.

• Replace worn-out parts and perform complete mechanical overhauls when required.

Diagnostics & Technical Work:

• Use mechanical diagnostic tools to identify faults and determine repair needs.

• Conduct road tests (and trailer performance checks) to verify functionality after repairs.

• Interpret technical manuals, repair instructions, and manufacturer guidelines.

Quality & Safety:

• Ensure all work meets safety standards and manufacturer specifications.

• Maintain an organized and safe workshop environment.

• Document all repairs and maintenance tasks accurately on job cards or digital systems.

Teamwork & Communication:

• Work closely with service advisors and other technicians to ensure timely vehicle servicing.

• Communicate clearly about repair requirements, timelines, and parts needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Diploma/Certificate in Automotive Technology or Mechanical Engineering.

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Auto Technician or similar role, including hands-on experience with trailer and light vehicle mechanical systems.

• Strong knowledge of mechanical vehicle systems, repair procedures, and trailer-specific components (axles, suspension, braking, electrical connections).

• Proficiency with mechanical tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices.

• Ability to work independently and troubleshoot effectively.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
