Job Description:

A Senior Architect is an experienced professional who oversees complex architectural projects from initial design to final construction, with responsibilities for design review and construction supervision. They combine advanced design and technical expertise with leadership skills to ensure projects meet aesthetic, functional, and regulatory standards.

Key duties and responsibilities

Leadership and project management

Team management: Guide, mentor, and supervise junior architects and technical staff throughout the project lifecycle.

Client relations: Interface directly with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements, present design proposals, and manage expectations.

Project oversight: Oversee large-scale, complex projects to ensure timelines and budgets are met.

Design review and quality control

Design review: Evaluate and critique designs, drawings, and documents to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to project requirements and standards.

Code compliance: Confirm that all architectural designs and plans comply with relevant building codes, zoning laws, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.

Peer reviews: Conduct technical and constructability peer reviews of plans and specifications to identify potential issues.

Coordination: Ensure consistency and coordination of design documents across all disciplines, including structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering.

Construction supervision and administration

Site monitoring: Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure the work aligns with design specifications and approved plans.

Submittal review: Review technical submittals from contractors, including shop drawings, material samples, and method statements.

Problem-solving: Address and resolve design-related issues and requests for information (RFIs) that arise during construction.

Quality assurance: Perform construction quality assurance inspections and oversee testing and commissioning related to architectural works.
