Electrical Design Engineer – Job Description
Position Summary
Responsible for the design, development, review, and coordination of electrical engineering deliverables for industrial projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international codes, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review electrical engineering deliverables such as Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), Load Lists, Cable Schedules, Cable Routing Layouts, Lighting Layouts, Earthing & Lightning Protection Drawings, and Equipment Layouts.
Perform electrical calculations including load flow, voltage drop, cable sizing, short circuit, and lighting calculations.
Review vendor drawings and ensure compliance with project specifications.
Coordinate with mechanical, piping, civil, instrumentation, and process disciplines.
Participate in design reviews, HAZOP, model reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
Prepare material requisitions, technical specifications, and bill of materials.
Support construction, commissioning, and field engineering activities by resolving technical queries.
Ensure engineering deliverables comply with applicable international standards and project quality procedures.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical engineering for oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, LNG, power, or industrial projects.
Preferred Technical Skills
Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, and API standards.
Experience with electrical design software such as ETAP, SKM Power Tools, Dialux, AutoCAD, SmartPlant Electrical, or E3D.
Ability to interpret P&IDs, SLDs, equipment layouts, and vendor documentation.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills for engineering calculations and reporting.
Familiarity with document management systems and multidisciplinary engineering workflows.
