Job Summary

The Senior Road Engineer will be responsible for leading and delivering the planning, design, and implementation of road and highway infrastructure projects. The role involves managing design activities, ensuring compliance with local and international standards, coordinating with authorities, and mentoring junior engineers to ensure high-quality project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Design Responsibilities

Lead the design, analysis, and development of road and highway projects in compliance with KSA and international standards.

Prepare and review detailed design deliverables including:

Horizontal and vertical alignments

Grading and earthworks

Drainage systems

Pavement design

Develop design drawings, technical reports, design reports, specifications, and material schedules.

Resolve engineering design issues using both manual calculations and engineering software with minimal supervision.

Ensure designs comply with relevant standards such as MOT, AASHTO, DM, and other applicable GCC standards.

Project & Authority Coordination

Assist in obtaining approvals from local authorities, municipalities, and government agencies.

Prepare transportation design programs and schedules based on detailed work breakdown structures.

Maintain strong client focus and ensure timely delivery of project outputs.

Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including utilities, structures, and traffic disciplines.

Quality & Compliance

Maintain quality control standards for all design outputs.

Review computations, drawings, reports, and estimates for technical accuracy and completeness.

Ensure proper application of engineering principles, procedures, and best practices.

Apply initiative to improve work processes, procedures, and systems for efficiency and effectiveness.

Team Leadership & Communication

Provide day-to-day technical guidance and coaching to junior engineers and team members.

Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders at all levels.

Contribute to team objectives through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

Stay updated with the latest trends, innovations, and technologies in road and highway engineering.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering.

Minimum 8 years of experience in a consultancy environment.

At least 4 years of experience working on GCC road and highway projects, preferably in KSA.

Demonstrated experience in delivering highways and transportation schemes across Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region.

Proficiency in:

AutoCAD

Autodesk Civil 3D

Working knowledge of Navisworks and Infraworks is an advantage.
