Job Purpose

To ensure safe, continuous, and reliable operation of medical gas systems within the rehabilitation hospital, supporting long-term patient care, mechanical ventilation units, and rehabilitation services, in full compliance with approved safety and quality standards.

Scope of Work

– Long-term inpatient wards

– Mechanical ventilation and respiratory care units

– Respiratory therapy and rehabilitation departments

– Medical gas systems including oxygen, medical air, vacuum, and backup systems

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Operate and monitor medical gas systems to ensure uninterrupted supply.

2. Monitor pressure, purity, flow rates, and alarm systems.

3. Respond immediately to system faults and critical alarms.

4. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance as per approved schedules.

5. Ensure readiness of emergency and backup systems at all times.

6. Coordinate with maintenance, biomedical engineering, and respiratory therapy teams.

7. Comply with safety procedures and standards (CBAHI, NFPA, HTM).

8. Maintain accurate operational and maintenance records.

Qualifications and Requirements

– Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical or engineering field.

– Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a healthcare facility.

– Experience in rehabilitation hospitals or ventilator-dependent units is preferred.

Required Skills

– Knowledge of medical gas systems and safety standards.

– Ability to read technical drawings and system schematics.

– High attention to detail and rapid response capability.

– Ability to work in shifts and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

– Reporting and documentation skills.

Work Environment

– Work within medical gas plant rooms and associated facilities.

– Shift-based work (24/7) according to hospital policy.

– Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

– Zero unplanned interruption of medical gas supply.

– Compliance with preventive maintenance schedules.

– Response time to critical alarms and failures.

– Safety audit and accreditation results.
