Vinyl Applicator (Installer)

The Vinyl Applicator is a hands-on role focused on the final stage of the production process. This person must have a “perfectionist” eye, as their work is what the client ultimately sees.

Job Summary

Responsible for preparing surfaces and applying vinyl graphics to various substrates, including vehicles, windows, walls, and signage boards. This role requires high attention to detail to ensure bubble-free, aligned, and durable installations.

Key Responsibilities

Surface Preparation: Cleaning and degreasing surfaces (vehicles, glass, ACM panels) to ensure maximum adhesion.

Application: Expertly applying cut vinyl, digital prints, and wraps using squeegees, heat guns, and primers.

Finishing: Trimming excess vinyl with precision blades without damaging the underlying surface.

On-site Installation: Traveling to client sites for installations, often working at heights or in various weather conditions.

Removal: Safely removing old graphics and adhesive residue.

Required Skills

Manual Dexterity: Steady hands for precise cutting and weeding.

Material Knowledge: Understanding the difference between cast, polymeric, and monomeric vinyls.

Problem Solving: Ability to handle complex curves, rivets, and corrugated surfaces.

Machine Operator (Large Format Print)

The Machine Operator is the engine of the production house. They manage the technology that turns digital designs into physical products.

Job Summary

Responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of digital printing and finishing equipment (e.g., UV, Solvent, Latex printers, CNC routers, or Plotters). This role ensures that production stays on schedule and meets color/quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Setup: Loading media (rolls/sheets), calibrating print heads, and adjusting heat/tension settings.

Quality Control: Monitoring print runs for banding, color shifts, or head strikes.

Post-Processing: Operating laminators, digital cutters (Zünd/Kongsberg), and vinyl plotters.

Maintenance: Performing daily/weekly cleaning cycles and troubleshooting minor mechanical issues.

File Management: Using RIP software (like Onyx or Caldera) to nest jobs and manage ink consumption.

Required Skills

Technical Proficiency: Comfort with computer-aided machinery and RIP software.

Color Accuracy: A strong eye for color matching and consistency.
