A Metal Works Costing & Estimation Engineer (Indian Nationality) prepares detailed cost estimates for fabrication projects (steel, SS, aluminum) by analyzing drawings, specs, and BOMs; collaborates with teams for accurate material/labor/overhead figures; uses estimation software Solid works, SAP, Load calculations ; prepares BOQs/quotations; and supports bids, focusing on cost reduction, risk assessment, and adherence to project standards, requiring strong analytical skills and engineering background.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Analysis: Analyze technical drawings (blueprints, P&IDs), specifications, and project docs to determine material, labor, and equipment costs for fabrication/erection.

Estimation & Quoting: Prepare detailed cost estimates, Bill of Quantities (BOQs), material take-offs (MTOs), and competitive quotes for clients.

Collaboration: Work with engineers, production, procurement, and clients to clarify scope, get quotes, and ensure accuracy.

Software Proficiency: Utilize estimation software (e.g., CostX, AutoCAD) and Excel for calculations and reports.

Risk Management: Assess cost risks, suggest cost-saving measures (VAVE), and manage contingency.

Reporting: Provide financial reports, trending data, and support bid submissions.

Database Management: Maintain and update historical cost databases for future estimates.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s in Engineering (Mechanical, Production, Civil).

Experience: Proven experience in steel, metal, or fabrication costing/estimation.

Technical Skills: Blueprint reading, understanding of fabrication processes (sheet metal, structural), material knowledge (SS, Aluminum, Steel).

Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
