Transaction and payment processing
Process sales transactions and take payments using cash, credit cards, or other methods.
Operate cash registers, scanners, and other point-of-sale (POS) equipment.
Calculate and accurately return change for cash transactions.
Issue receipts, coupons, and stamps.
Customer service
Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, helpful service.
Answer customer questions about products, services, and store policies.
Resolve customer complaints and process returns or exchanges.
Operations and maintenance
Count cash in the drawer at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure accuracy.
Balance the cash register and reconcile transactions at the end of a shift.
Maintain a clean and organized checkout area.
Bag, box, or gift-wrap customer purchases.
Additional duties
Restock shelves, rotate inventory, or assist with merchandising displays as needed.
Adhere to store security and anti-theft policies.
Cross-sell products and promote loyalty plans.
