Job Description: Senior Planner (Infrastructure & Landscape)

Position: Senior Planner

Industrials: Infrastructure, Landscape

Minimum 5 to 7 Years Experience

Brief Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Planner to lead and manage complex planning projects at the intersection of major infrastructure and landscape architecture. This role is pivotal in shaping sustainable, resilient, and aesthetically conscious environments. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record of navigating the regulatory landscape, securing approvals, and integrating large-scale infrastructure with its natural and built context. You will act as a project lead, a client liaison, and a mentor within the planning team.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Strategic & Project Management:

• Lead the planning and permitting strategy for a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects (e.g., transportation, utilities, green infrastructure) and large-scale landscape projects (e.g., parks, public realms, environmental restoration).

• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and successful delivery.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and sub-consultants.

• Prepare and review proposals, scope of work documents, and project reports.

Technical & Analytical:

• Conduct site analyses, feasibility studies, and due diligence reports to assess project constraints and opportunities.

• Lead the preparation, submission, and management of comprehensive planning applications, environmental impact assessments (EIAs), and other regulatory documents.

• Expertly navigate local, state, and federal planning policies, zoning codes, and environmental regulations.

• Integrate principles of sustainable design, green infrastructure, and climate resilience into project planning.

• Utilize GIS, AutoCAD, and other planning software for spatial analysis and presentation.

Qualification & Experience:

Essential Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Environmental Planning, Landscape Architecture, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree is highly preferred.

• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in a planning role, with a significant portion dedicated to infrastructure and/or landscape-driven projects.

• Demonstrated expertise in the entitlement process and successful track record of securing approvals for complex projects.

• Proven experience in project management, including financial control and client management.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information for diverse audiences.

• Proficiency with GIS, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office.

Desired Experience & Skills:

• Experience working on multidisciplinary project teams with engineers and landscape architects.

• Strong graphic presentation skills and the ability to develop compelling visual materials.

• Experience with public-private partnership (P3) projects.

• A network of contacts within relevant regulatory agencies and the development community.

• A portfolio that demonstrates a range of successful infrastructure and landscape planning projects.
