The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and other beverages. This role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and inviting café environment, and ensuring all operations run smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate is passionate about coffee, detail-oriented, friendly, and thrives in a fast-paced setting. Key Responsibilities 1. Customer Service & Sales • Warmly greet all customers and create a welcoming atmosphere. • Accurately take food and drink orders, paying close attention to customization requests (e.g., blend preferences, dairy alternatives, temperature). • Provide customers with menu information, make recommendations, and educate them on coffee bean varieties and preparation methods. • Process payments accurately using the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle cash and credit card transactions. • Resolve customer complaints and concerns professionally and politely. • Upsell food items, specialty drinks, and retail merchandise when appropriate. 2. Beverage Preparation & Quality • Prepare and serve all beverages (hot and cold) consistently, following established recipes and quality standards (e.g., espresso extraction, milk steaming, and latte art). • Grind coffee beans and brew coffee using various techniques and equipment. • Ensure all food and beverage items are prepared and presented attractively. • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for food handling and preparation. 3. Operations & Maintenance • Operate and maintain all coffee-making equipment, including espresso machines, grinders, and blenders, troubleshooting minor issues and reporting maintenance needs. • Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked workspace, including the bar, service areas, and seating areas. • Wash and put away dishes and ensure a constant supply of clean mugs and plates. • Monitor and restock inventory of coffee beans, syrups, pastries, and other supplies; communicate low stock levels to the manager. • Complete opening and closing checklists, including cash drawer reconciliation. Qualifications and Skills Required • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and product quality. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Basic math skills for accurate cash handling and order processing. • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to [e.g., 25]
