This role is for a health professional responsible for the safe and effective dispensing of prescription and non-prescription medications to the public. The Pharmacist will manage all aspects of the retail pharmacy operation, ensuring regulatory compliance, excellent customer service, and business profitability.
Key Responsibilities
???? Patient Care & Counseling
Dispense prescriptions accurately and provide patients with clear, detailed instructions on medication usage, dosage, storage, and potential side effects or drug interactions.
Advise patients on the selection of over-the-counter (OTC) medication and cosmeceutical products (e.g., sunscreen, vitamins, wellness items) to assist with their well-being.
Communicate effectively with prescribers to clarify any prescription details, ensuring patient safety.
Monitor patient usage patterns for compliance and potential over-usage.
Must possess strong customer service skills to build trust and confidence with customers.
???? Operations, Security, and Compliance
Oversee the safety, security, and upkeep of the pharmacy premises and all pharmaceutical stock.
Manage inventory: monitor stock levels, check expiry dates, and ensure proper storage conditions for all medications, following manufacturer specifications.
Ensure the secure and safe storage of narcotics and controlled medication, strictly adhering to NHRA/MOH (National Health Regulatory Authority/Ministry of Health) standards, including mandatory weekly verification and documentation.
Handle daily monetary and financial transactions and reconcile stock with records.
Ensure the main pharmacy entrance is locked at all times as a security measure.
???? Business & Management
Proactively focus on cross-selling and promoting non-prescription items to maximize overall pharmacy revenue.
Review processes regularly and propose promotions or plans to Senior Management to improve profitability.
Assist in managing pharmacy files, patient records, and maintaining proper records of all advisories from regulatory bodies.
Ensure sufficient Continuing Medical Education (CME) compliance as required by NHRA/MOH.
Schedule and Requirements
Duty Hours: 10 hours per day.
Time Off: Entitled to two Fridays off per month.
Qualifications: BSc. Pharmacy, with 5 years of post-registration experience (for non-Bahraini), and a valid NHRA license.
Skills: Proficiency in written and spoken English (essential), Arabic (preferred), strong computer knowledge, and an accommodating, flexible attitude.
