Job Summary

The barista is responsible for creating high-quality coffee and tea beverages, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. They are the face of the coffee shop, ensuring guests have a welcoming and enjoyable experience.

Key Responsibilities

Beverage Preparation

Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages, including espresso-based drinks, following established recipes and quality standards.

Operate coffee-making equipment, such as espresso machines, grinders, and blenders.

Ensure drinks are consistently crafted with attention to detail, presentation, and taste.

Customer Service

Greet customers with a friendly and positive attitude.

Take accurate orders and process transactions using the POS system.

Offer recommendations on menu items based on customer preferences.

Address customer questions, concerns, or complaints professionally and promptly.

Workplace Maintenance

Maintain cleanliness and organization in the café, including counters, equipment, and seating areas.

Follow health and safety regulations to ensure food and beverage safety.

Restock supplies (e.g., cups, syrups, coffee beans) as needed.

Team Collaboration

Work cohesively with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy hours.

Assist in training new team members as needed.

Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors about stock levels, issues, or improvements.

Other Duties

Perform opening and closing procedures.

Participate in promotional events or seasonal menu changes.

Adhere to company policies and standards.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a café, restaurant, or similar environment (preferred but not required).

Knowledge of coffee preparation techniques (e.g., latte art is a plus).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and composure.

Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.

Basic math and cash-handling skills.
